Geneva, capital of luxury Watchmaking
Geneva is a city of many faces. And among the most flattering of these is its role as the world capital of luxury watchmaking, a title earned by dint of monumental efforts.
It is reconfirmed today by the city’s unique creativity, its quest of beauty and perfection, its constant technological progress.

Many monuments and curiosities remind the visitors of the role the city played in watchmaking history: Flower Clock, Clock Malbuisson, Solar and Laser Clock, Patek Philippe Museum, Railway Clocks anf the Hôtel Cornavin Clock.
The Rue du Rhone is beyond doubt the "richest" street in Geneva. Here you will find an impressive number of watch and jewellery shops selling the most renowned brands. Among the brands that have contributed to forging the watch making legend of both Geneva and Switzerland are Audemars Piguet, Baume & Mercier, Choppard, Ebel, Franck Muller, Patek Philippe, Piaget, Raymond Weil, Rolex, TAG Heuer and Vacheron Constantin.
Geneva, a culinary paradise
Geneva. The name can be heard day by day on the news channels of the world. It is a synonym, both for internationalism and conferences as well as for quality of life. No one would guess that the name also stands for a wine region – the third largest in Switzerland, the one which takes the most pleasure in experimenting, the one with the least compromise and the one with the largest wine-growing community, Satigny.
Eating and drinking combine in the Geneva hinterland in such a wonderful way that Geneva has become the culinary capital of Switzerland.
Haute cuisine restaurants and bistros with classic or innovative cuisine du terroir - in the city and in the country - attract a remarkable number of people to the Rhône city.

Despite all their enthusiasm for the unknown the people of Geneva don’t forget their traditional dishes. For example, the classic Filets de perche, the Longeole, a raw sausage which is not completely matured, made from coarse-grained meat and the gelatinous parts of pig, often spiced with wild fennel, garlic, muscat nut and white wine.
And Cardons – Karden or Kardy –, a thistle-type-stalk vegetable, which tastes a bit like artichoke and likes to be enjoyed "au gratin".
Geneva, a shopper's paradise
With a myriad of boutiques and department stores, Geneva offers something for everyone. It’s the watch capital of the world, a center for exquisite jewelry, and a place to find high quality Swiss and imported items. Before you leave, don’t forget to purchase some chocolate from one of Geneva’s master chocolate-makers. And why not stock up on Swiss army knives? They make the ideal gift for anyone.
